Window 7 not recognize arduino Mega 2560

Hello everyone,

I am new with arduino and get an arduino mega 2560 in a kit with some componentes and a getting started book.

After hundreds of pages readed I finally going to program my arduino and what a fail when any of my 2 computers recognice it (both of them windows 7).

1-Conect arduino to the computer with the cable the kit have.
2-Download the IDE
3-Install the IDE and say yes to all the drivers it says to install
4-Check in windows control panel for "arduino xx" or "Unidentified device"
----> None of this are in my devices, in any of the 2 computers

Can someone help? it is a little bit desepereting.

Thank you in advance.

If you have the board connected, is there a device with a ! next to it in Device Manager? (And to be sure, is it gone when you unplug the Arduino...)

Or, is it just under "Ports (COM & LPT)"...

Hi,

There is no device with any mark in it and none of those wich are there disapier when I unplug the cable.

After 2h with this I called the seller and they tell me to send the arduino back to them to test it. I will post if it is something strange or just a bad one.

No USB detected sound at all?
