windows 8 won't load drivers for mega 2560

Folks,
I've researched this on line. After reinstalling Arduino 1.0.5 several times, the COM port line does not come up in the device manager.
Windows 8 used to talk to my mega 2560 perfectly. Now it gets unknown device and attempts to install from the Arduino drivers folder fail. The arduino drivers have an .inf entry, but not a .pnf entry like the other drives.

You have to disable Driver signing before you can install. Google will bring up lots of pages describing how to do it. The one below is just one of them:
