Hi, I have an arduino one (not copy) and I'm try to connect it to my computer but I can't. Arduino recieves power but the computer doesn't recognize it, doesn't make any sound when I plug the arduino, I think that I know what is the ploblem but I'm not sure and anyway I don't know how to fix it. In the area of tx and rx pins there is glu and i think this may be the problem. I tried to remove it heating it but it's impossible to remove all without desolder it
Try another USB cable because some are just power cables and don't have data lines. If that doesn't do it try another PC if that doesn't work it's most likely the Arduino itself.
Hi Delga, can you take a focused, closeup picture of the “glue” on your Uno? That may help diagnose your problem.
Second, when you plug it into the computer, look at the Port menu item in the IDE. What ports do you see?
I head this problem.
the IDE wouldn't recognise that it was connected ("port" in tools drop down greyed out).
turns out it was the security software at work so just had to white list the device
I'm sure the cable is not the problem because if I plug my printer with that cable it works and windwos recognize it. I've checked the ports and the only one is COM1 and if I unplug the arduino nothing changes
The glue is some kind of superglue or something like that. The name in my country is "La Gotita" and acording to wikipedia it's Cyanoacrylate.
Those are the pictures:
Heating it may not have been a good idea.
If it is cyanoacrylate then you can soften it up and perhaps scrape it off using acetone.
Lots of nail varnish removers contain acetone.
The glue on the board in that location will not affect operation of the USB-port.
Watching the state of the board, brings up the question: Did it work before? and what did you do to it before it stopped working?
Might be ESD/whatever damage on the USB-chip.
// Per.
yes it worked, but I haven't used it since a long time ago, I forgot it in a friend house and this friend change of school so I could contact this friend and ask for the arduino and he gave it to me this week. Actually I think it still works, when I plug it the on led turns on and L led blinks
The scratches on the board were after it stopped working trying to remove the glue but they don't interfer in the circuit
Could affect the fact of that the loaded uses rx and tx port for Bluetooth?

Bluetooth? You didn't say anything about bluetooth.
// Per.
I forgot that because it was 2 years ago when i used it the last time so as i remember the program loaded includes a Bluetooth module which i don't have now, but may that be the problem?

Think you need to concentrate on this, forget the glue.
I think it could be the atmega16u2(usb chip) but i don't know how to fix it. I'm supposing that because I'm not able to enter into dfu mode
