Windows go-slow?

I just got a new laptop and I thought it would be a good idea to get it to create a Recovery USB stick before I start trying to install Linux.

It has so far taken it more than an hour and it is not finished yet!

Has it sent a carrier pigeon to Redmond? Should I leave a (real) window open when I go to bed in case it returns during the night?

Yea, not bad, health is ok and I am managing to put a crust on the table, thanks for asking.
I hope you and yours are all doing well.

Are you doing anything exciting like sending up more of those baloons for you know who?

The OP's Windows go slow is probably because the USB sticks are made and controlled by the Chinese. No doubt they have made them run slow in retaliation for Trump's "easy to win" trade war. US imports of steel and aluminium from China have indeed dropped, but US exports have fallen so the trade gap with China has actually got bigger. Maybe not such an easy war after all - still it will all be over for Christmas.
