WiPhone display (ST7789) flickering problem

I just recently bought a WiPhone from wiphone.io and was having fun for about a couple of hours before the screen stopped working properly. At first I thought it was a firmware issue (and possibly still is) but at least from what I can tell it appears to be related to the display.

At startup, I see the WiPhone logo flicker a few times and then stays on the screen for a few seconds with the colours wrong and no animation like it is normally supposed to show. Then, after the logo disappears, it shows nothing but a white screen. When I press buttons on the keypad, I can see things such as the dialpad flicker for a split second and then back to white again.

I have tried flashing the latest firmware multiple times using both the source code via Arduino IDE as well as the precompiled binaries via esptool but this doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference. esptool on Linux seems to work just fine except that it doesn't allow me to choose a flash size of 128MB as the tutorial instructs me to. I've also tried the Espressif Flash Download Tool on Windows but it doesn't even sync with the WiPhone in order to flash it. The Arduino IDE serial monitor doesn't seem to be reporting any issues that I can see.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is any further information you need please let me know.

Kind regards

Contact your vendor and see what they can tell you. Without knowing details as to what has been done to it since the box was opened I cannot be of much help/

As I was using it, my finger slipped and I accidentally hit the reboot function which apparently triggers a firmware update but at the time I wasn't aware that it was doing a firmware flash and it was just showing a white screen and so I powered it off and since then it hasn't been the same.
