Coincell = 250mAH capacity
Xbee power requirement:
(zigbee is xbee consortium)

45-50mA
250/50 = 5 hr, != "capable of running for months on a single coin-cell battery"
unless powered down all the time.

I have a simple wireless remote, 433 MHz Tx + Promini that goes into powerdown sleep mode in between button presses, running on 1000mAH 3.7V Lipo - lasts about a month with no button presses between recharges. Current jumps to ~ 15mA for transmit of a button press.

Interested to see the pricing. The zigbee modules themselves are the same price as an Arduino compatible board typically. Wireless nodes on Arduino are great and cheap...if using a cheap wireless module.
