Wireless/remote controlled camera help

Hello ,

I'm very new into cameras and communcation , arduino in general lol.
I want a camera on a UAV that has the following features:
-I want to receive the video signal from that camera via wireless communication (a quick google search: "FPV" ?) if possible from more than 100meters away
-I want it to have night vision
-If a budget of 250$ (+ the previous) would be enough ,+infrared or thermal imaging is the same term ? , yup that too!

So basically i want to receive the video image to my laptop so i can see where my uav is at (+ night flights) and manualy controlling it at the same time.

Are there any cameras out there, like i described above ? All in one , or are they way more expensive?
I would also appreciate a DIY guide if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks in advance!

You have not specified a weight requirement, which is actually key if it goes into a UAV. I'm assuming that your UAV is not powered by a gas turbine so weight is probably an important consideration. That being said, your best bet is to install a cellular phone a transmit either wifi or via cellular.

I should have mentioned, i do not yet have a UAV, this is a VERY early idea of mine to add this kind of camera, the UAV will be a 4 quad helicopter, i really didn't consider the weight, would 0.3-0.5 kg be too much ?

There is no way for me to determine the weight requirement with the information provided. I will assume that you are relatively young and enthusiastic (a good thing) and will attempt to provide some friendly guidance here. When asking for help, you should

  • have specific questions
  • provide more than enough info for the person helping you
  • make it as easy as possible for someone to help you

Given the amount of information here ( a quadcopter of uknown make and model), I would augment my suggestion with those that have had success with your goal:
