I have just found out about Arduino while looking for a product already made to suit my purpose and I am delighted I did. I cannot wait to start my project but I am a complete noob. I have a I.T. background but it does not include programming =( . So here is my project.
I have machinery that is connected to pc's. While working on said machinery a error sometimes occurs in the software stopping the motors from running. The only way to reset is to go back to one of the pc's and hit the reset button. This could involve going up and down 3 flights of stairs when working. Although it is not a necessity and I am in no rush I was hoping that I could use Arduino to build a remote button that when pressed will simulate someone hitting the refresh key. Like a car remote. One button, possibly one on each floor. No more that 30 feet away if I was to jump over the side 8) . There might be a problem in that the refresh key is not on the pc keyboard but a separate connected console that has numerous different keys for operating the machinery.
Can Arduino do this? Where do I start ? What do I need to order?
Although I like the idea of you guys/gals here to help. I really would like to do as much of this myself as possible. That being said I'm a complete noob to all of this and I have no idea (but that is making it more appealing than scary--Am I crazy?).
