Wiring diagram question.

In this datasheet LCD Datasheet There is a couple diagrams showing the connections from the display to the processor. (pg 4) On the far right side there is a circuit showing a 10k trimpot for display brightness I assume. My question is, what's the little arrows off the wires? I've always thought those were grounds but it doesn't look like a good place for grounds to me. What are they showing me here?

Thanks!

Ground symbol, as far as I know. It's not the arrows but the little triangle

It can't be. One is hooked to Vdd!

A triangle with the point pointing downwards is a ground, upwards is a supply and to the side when the wire is going off the page in a multi page schematic. A triangle on its side with the wire coming from the point is coming from another sheet in a multi page schematic.

.

Ha! Thanks guys! With this it all makes sense.

Jim, you mentioned that you thought the trimpot was for display brightness, it is actually for display contrast.

Once you have found a suitable setting for the pot, you may never have to change it again.

@john, thanks! Never tried to wire/code/run an LCD before. So I'm all ear.. eyes.
