wiznet vs. enc28***** ethernet

are there and functional differences between using ethernet shields based on the wiznet chip vs the ENC28**** chip.

I see they use a different library . Does one favor the other for certain jobs?

I am making a beer fermentation controller for a small microbrewery. We need to control the temps of 4 to 6 fermentation vessels with offsite monitor and control.

The Wiznet boards are easier to program (the library is higher level) and a bit more capable. A little more expensive but worth it.
