Hello. I was wanting to move the motor inside of a printer (Not a stepper, Just a DC motor) But i want to be able to control it going left or right using buttons. I am very limited on what i can use, And i was wondering what would be the simplest way to go about this?
Thank everyone!
The cheap DC motors inside printers are usually coupled with a very high resolution rotary or linear encoder and some very clever software.
I don't think it would be easy to interfere with the system without completely screwing it up.

Example of a motor with a rotary encoder. This is pretty much what you'd find in a "real" printer. However, like Robin I'll still say it's much much simpler to use a stepper motor.

You wanna see the encoder in a cheap printer. The lines on one that I have (a 65mm plastic disk) are so fine it is hard to distinguish them with the naked eye.
