Working out directions of travel

Hi all, this is a broad question, but I'm wondering how I can work out the direction of travel for an object?
We have an distance sensor, microwave sensor, PIR sensor.
What other tools/sensors do i need if necessary?

Thanks!

You're right that is a very broad question.

You mention a distance sensor: Read the distance. Wait a while. Read it again. Compare the two readings. That should give you direction of travel along one axis at least.

Direction, as in referenced to what?

So do you mean to track the orientation of the Rover relative to it's start position?

Yes, but we are just guessing because you are failing to provide anything much in the way of context.
Indoor / outdoor, over what range, what degree of accuracy, absolute or relative direction?

Budget?
