I have my diecimila speaking to max/msp with two 10k pots in my breadboard successfully. I want to in a basic form capture some values of human movement, I've ordered a ping ultrasound sensor, I was wondering if hacking a pir sensor such as a garden light would suitable to investigate, is it just a on/off switch or will it be able to give me range of values such as the ping sensor? any comments will be greatly appreciated.
Most PIRs are on/off and sense movement not distance (or size)
If you learn something, your time is not wasted. And someone else is going to need what you find at some time. Maybe more than one on/off sensor could provide some data that is useful.
thankyou for your comments, i might try and make an array but seeing as garden light cost around £10 I don't think i will be doing it any time soon, maybe a few LDRs could work.
