Would it work?

I have this old COMPAQ pocket PC running Windows. It's maybe 13-23 years old but still works. But on the plus side, it has a universal IR blaster and I was wondering if it would work with the IRRX I have on my arduino

I was wondering if it would work with the IRRX I have on my arduino

IRRX? Is that supposed to be an IR receiver?

Have you tried receiving anything from the PC?

Yes it's the IR receiver, I'm trying to test the IR still but I wanted to just know if it was worth dusting this thing off

The fact that you called it a "universal IR blaster", would indicate to me that it might possibly work.

You may need to spend some time examining the waveform received in order to work out how to decode messages correctly.

Does your arduino IRRX demodulate a 38 khz IR signal ? (does it have 3 pins or 2 ?)

Why not just dust off the IR bit to start with, then if it works you can do the full "spring clean".

well, i tried it and it worked, sorta, some buttons gave me the exact same code, so two to four buttons gave me a code so its a bit tricky if i were to use it. Its 12 years old by the way and im wondering if its simply more primitive and thus some keys have the same code, maybe its damaged.
