Hi guys,

I want to switch on a relay using either a switch or an output from the arduino. I have devised this circuit but would like an opinion on if it would work:

It will not, your Arduino output voltage cannot approach 12V in order to turn off the transistor.

Just use one of the NPN relay drive circuits that pop up on this forum all the time.
