Writing a code connecting a 12V battery, Soft-Pot membrane and RGB LED strip

I’m currently a student completing my major project for school. I’m designing a coat hanger that lights up when the item of clothing has fallen off. On the wings of the coat hanger, there is going to be a ‘SoftPot Membrane - Potentiometer’ which is going to tell the 12V LED strip to light up when there are no clothes attached.

I have developed a circuit that is able to light up a single LED diode by applying pressure onto the ‘SoftPot Membrane’. I have also developed another circuit which is able to run an RGB LED strip with a 12V battery supply. Though, I’m finding it difficult to write the code that combines the LED strip and soft-pot membrane but can also be powered by a 12V power supply. Would you have any suggestions to help me?
