I really need to know where does a "code writing dummy" start with writing code for this software?
Find an example that interests you, tweak it up some, add in some code from other examples. Just jump in & start doing it.

Maybe start with some online beginners tutorial in 'C' language.
On the other hand.... if you are a true "code writing dummy".... could start with visual basic.

The green bar at the top of every page on the site has a row of pulldown menus.
One of them is named Learning. Try putting the mouse pointer over that. Wake Up.
First thing I did even before I got my board (it was being shipped) was to bookmark the Arduino site pages.
Here's a good one:

Load and run the examples that come with the IDE. Look at the code.
The book "Beginning C for Arduino" is pretty good. Amazon has it HERE
