WS2812 Led strip from 3.3 volts (SNx4HCT245) logic level converter

I am trying to control a ws2812b led strip from a data 3.3 output pin. While it does work the results are unstable and I want to boost the signal to a 5 volt range as required by the led.

Is the SNx4HCT245 suitable to perform this task?

A single mosfet would probably be better/easier.

HCT family devices powered at 5V will reliably work from 3.3V logic inputs. A bidirectional octal busdriver is rather overkill for one LED strip (and if you misconnect it you risk pushing 5V back to your 3.3V chip - best to use a chip with dedicated inputs that can never output 5V. 74HCT244 for instance.
