I’m trying to find a source of approx 100mm tall high-contrast digits.
Matrix or flip segments.
Size is not critical, I need 4 characters/digits. Lit or unlit no problem.
Electro-mech: New product is €100 or more per digit.
LED requires,ore optical filtering in daylight.
Does anyone have a link to a source of something I can look at for current & future purchases - or a bulk lot of recycled product ?
Ideally €20 / USD 22 / AUD 32 or less per character. position.

why not use 4 OLED screens?
Create bitmaps for the digits you need and display the bitmaps as needed.
For example: the NewHaven 256x64 pixel monochrome OLED
I know they cost a bit more than your $22 limit but perhaps if buying 4 or 5 you can get down to that price.

Biggest hurdle may be getting 4 connected independently to one processor.
Nice OLED link, but sadly, those tiny mixmox boards are indoor use for hobby projects.The contrast & glass would be hard to see outdoors.
