Xbee communication

I have two UAVs with APM 2.6 mounted with Xbee S1 for wireless communication.(via the telem port)And one ground station (laptop)

could someone enlighten me, what kind of signals does the xbee transmit? As in what are the information the Xbee is going to send to over to the other unit..

I am quite confused with the xbee.

Please bear with me if my question does not make sense thank you.

Radio waves.

As in what are the information the Xbee is going to send to over to the other unit..

Whatever you configure them to send automatically, plus whatever you explicitly tell them to send.
