xbee configuation

Hello !!
i have got two xbee s2b with xbee pro shield like this :


then i have asked here before about how to communicate between each other and some one guide me to this tutorial

and i doing it step by step correctly but it's doesn't transfer the data between them.

My question about is :
should i configure the two xbee modules before i'm using it?
and can some one tell me how to configure it under linux OS (fedora 20).
because i haven't windows now and this task must be delivery to my prof after 10 hours from now.
just i need guide

Only if you want them to talk to each other.

Install Wine and some version of Windows. Then, use X-CTU. Or find a friend that has Windoze.
