Xbee pc --> arduino

Hello everybody! I'm new at arduino and I'm sorry if I created this topic to wrong place. My question is which "machines" I need to control arduino wireless from computer with about 50-100 meters range. (I'm making a RC car with arduino). I think I have to buy all of these: http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Shield-Module-Arduino-Duemilanove/dp/B006TQ30TW/ref=pd_bxgy_pc_img_y two times http://www.amazon.com/SparkFun-XBee-1mW-Wire-Antenna/dp/B004G4ZHK4/ref=pd_bxgy_pc_img_y http://www.amazon.com/SparkFun-XBee-Explorer-Dongle/dp/B004G4ZJCA/ref=pd_sim_pc_4

But I think they pays about 90 euros and It's very expensive. So fewer devices or have I pay 90 euros?

Thank you for answers!

Seems like you are starting of too big. If you are new to arduino, and want to start on an project using these shields and adapters u must have some electrical experience and at least programming experience. if you have this there should be hope for you to complete such a project with wireless and arduino. else i strongly advise you to start of much easier.

anyway, there sure are cheaper ways to connect your arduino wireless with the pc. try to search for RF transceivers (or a pare of RF transmitter and receiver). you will end up with much more shields/adapters with alot cheaper ones. but keep in mind: if you go cheaper, the support of the hardware/software will be limmited and it might be harder for you to seek awnsers if somthing is unclear.

i hope i helped you since i have done some wireless too. although that was from arduino-arduino connection, it musn't make that much difference for the RF transciever. (it does make a differnce for the adapter wich goes to the pc). nick

Thank's for your answer. I'm starter with arduino, but I have coded for about five years and have done all kinds of electrical and electronic projects for over ten years. I thought that is the range of cheaper transmitters enough long (about 50-100 meters)

well the range would be different for all different devices, so you will have to find one witch fills the need of your application. try 'Deal Extreme', they have quite some electronics for Arduino, they have world wide free shipping, but keep in mind that the shipping time is around a month or so.

here is the direct link where arduino compatibles are listed: http://dx.com/c/electrical-tools-499/arduino-scm-supplies-436

they sell for a realy reasonable price. take a look for those radio frequency transmitters/receivers/trancievers maybe u can increase the ranges with different antenna's, but i have no experience with the range. all i can tell is that for 10 dollars u can have wireless within a normal sized house.

Thank's a lot for your answers! I have an other question about RC-car building. (Sorry if my English isn't so good. That's why because I'm Finnish) I found too motor shields. SainSmart L293D Motor Drive Shield For Arduino Duemilanove Mega UNO R3 AVR ATMEL and Arduino Motor Shield R3. I can't understand that why SainSmart L293D Motor Drive Shield For Arduino Duemilanove Mega UNO R3 AVR ATMEL is more cheaper than Arduino Motor Shield R3 even if SainSmart L293D Motor Drive Shield For Arduino Duemilanove Mega UNO R3 AVR ATMEL can control four motors but Arduino Motor Shield R3 can control only two motors. So why is four motor controlling motor shield cheaper than two motor controlling motor shield? I tried to search information from web, but I don't find it.
