XBee Sleep mode SM1

hi
i have a point to point connection of two arduino boards (Duemilanove)
via XBee Series 2. They are configured as coordinator AT and Router/End Device AT.

Now i want to set the Router/End Device AT in sleep mode by using the
X - CTU configuration Sleep mode 1 when the device it out of range.
Is it possible to use the AT commad DB for a loop to detect if the device is
in range or out of range ?
