Does anyone know if the xBee wifi modules can be used to get a number value from in terms of signal strength? Im building a robot the will travel towards hotspots, but Im getting stuck on the wifi module to use. If anyone has any information on what to use for a module that is compatible with my Arduino Mega1280 I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks a lot.
XBees are not WiFi modules. They are radios. They do send RSSI (Relative Signal String Indicator) values, but the values themselves are not all that accurate. Useless for homing purposes.

No. Only what you can't use.
As far as wifi, you could try a shield.
This one works pretty well and got good reviews.
