XBEE WIFI

Hello i was curious about what the differences were between the xbee WIFlY module and the Xbee WIFLY shield and which one would be better for general projects/purposes

xbee WIFLY Shield https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9954

Neither of those boards are XBee modules. One of them has the same footprint as an XBee but it’s not made by Digi International.

The WiFly Shield lets you communicate with the module with SPI so you don’t need to use the Arduino’s UART.

I think those boards are pretty expensive compared to some of the more recent WiFi options available.

In case you haven’t heard, ESP8266 modules are supposed to work great and are very inexpensive.

Here are a couple options.

Yeah they sounds like great options but what is that catch How good is the range on then? I can't find it online

Range is crucial for me as I've got a very wide house and need to be able to access the arduino wifi all over house
