Xbee wireless uploading

Hi,

here my problem:

I have a xbee that is connected to my usb through the usb explorer and another one that is connected to my arduino through a wireless shield. I want to upload a sketch from my usb explorer to my arduino?

How can i get it? =(

Any advice?

What kind of XBees?

I want to upload a sketch from my usb explorer to my arduino?

Is that a statement or a question?

Supposing that it is a statement, how do you propose to have the XBee press the reset button at the right time?

I have xbee 2 series.

No, it's a question. I mean, I'd like to upload wireless my sketch to my arduino that it has a wireless shield with an xbee mount on it :-D

When you connect the USB cable to the Arduino, and press the upload icon in the IDE, the code is compiled and linked. Then, avrdude is called to upload the resulting hex file. One of the things that avrdude does is to reset the Arduino. The needed link between the reset hardware and the XBee does not exist, so the XBee has no way of pressing the reset key. You'll need to do that manually, at the right time.

Once you do that, the fact that XBees are involved in the upload process should not matter. Though, personally, I've never figured out the magic moves to make the upload work using series 1 XBees. I've not tried it with the series 2 ones that I have.

ehm.....so I believe that is not possibile uploading a sketch using two xbee :~

There exist quite a few resources for this on the net:

HOWEVER, I had bought an xstick from digi with zigbee and a zigbee module pro series 2 and couldn't get it to work. I've ordered 2 series 1, 802 modules and am going to test this tomorrow. Maybe I'll try again tonigth.

Thank you, but these example are only for xbee 1 series =(

Yeah, that was also my reaction. And that's why I'm going to buy 2 new series 1. I don't really understand why there is a difference between the two series in this case...

To answer my own question: the series 2 or ZIGBEE does not have the function to pass digital IO signals. So the option to pass the signal on pin 3 is non existant. http://www.digi.com/support/kbase/kbaseresultdetl?id=2213
