Xbee Zigbee pro 63mW series 2

Hello,

I have bought an Xbee pro 63 mW wire antenna.

I have put it inside a plastic box, do you know what is the maximum distance it can send/receive data?

Does it matter if Iassemble into the box, so as the wire antenna is out of the box? Or it doesn't matter if I have it inside/outside the box?

Thank you...

Reception distances for RF stuff can vary greatly, a radio transmitter that can just cover 100M in an urban area at ground level could go 100kM (1000 times as far) with good line of sight between transmitter and receiver.

The box could affect the tuning\matching of the antenna, which might decrease or increace the distances. The plastic itself could also have a screening effect.

Best policy is simple, test it.
