XCTU can't find Xbee on Arduino Proto Shield

Hello!

I am trying to get my XBee series 1 devices to communicate with each other, but I am having trouble. I downloaded XCTU and using the explorer from sainsmart, XCTU could find the XBee. However, when I try connecting the XBee to an Arduino using an Arduino Wireless Proto Shield, the XCTU can't find the device.

I have tried doing "Discovering" a device on XCTU and clicked all possible baud rates, but it still couldn't find the device. I also tried it again and selected all so all possible combinations of parameters would be checked, and it didn't work. I also tried to "Recover" it, and it said that it had a inactive Bootloader.

I tried activating the bootloader (Digi Python Wiki Archive) but it seems to be for the older version of XCTU and I'm not sure how to do it with the new version.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the Wireless proto shield because I have 2 Xbees and both worked on the sainsmart explorer, but neither worked on the shield.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can only use X-CTU with the Arduino with shield if you first remove the ATmega328 chip. Pay careful attention to how it is installed, because it is very easy to reinstall it incorrectly.

Thanks PaulS!!!

I have decided to avoid deconstructing any part of my Arduino and used the CoolTerm Software instead.

Thanks for your help!

Hi kris789ten

How did u use the CoolTerm ?
I ll not be able to add the XBEE module using the XCTU ? How can i configure it then ?
