Yosemite 10.10 and pro mini

There seems to be a lot of people out there that have had trouble installing the FTDI drivers for Mac Yosemite because they are having uninstalling the AppleUSBFTDI driver. I also have had this problem and still do. However, I seem to have found a work around and I wanted to get the communities thoughts on it. I have simply be programming my pro mini by changing the board to the "Arduino UNO" instead of "Arduino Pro or Pro Mini". This seems to be working fine but what issues will I face by doing this?

If you just changed Tools->Board to "Arduino UNO" and it worked then somebody burned the wrong bootloader into your Pro Mini.

Pro Mini->
upload.speed=19200
atmega/ATmegaBOOT_168_atmega328_pro_8MHz.hex

UNO ->
upload.speed=115200
optiboot/optiboot_atmega328.hex
