I am considering developing a Z-Wave shield and wanted to gauge interest from other members. Is this something you would be interested in purchasing? My goal would be to have them priced similarly to the XBee shields out there today.
I have a few projects in mind for myself, and found that nobody that I know of sells a Z-Wave shield. If any of you do know of one out there, please reply and let me know. Could save me the effort of designing my own.
It's a wireless protocol similar to XBee that has pretty wide adoption in the home automation market. I personally use it along with Homeseer to control lighting and HVAC in my home. It has lots of other potential applications though, such as data collection. The main benefit is that it's a wireless mesh network, and there are lots of commercial products out there that support it.
From Z-Wave.com:
Z-Wave is an award-winning, proven and interoperable* wireless mesh networking technology that allows a wide array of devices in and around the home to communicate including lighting, appliances, HVAC, entertainment centers and security systems.
