Switch Electronics was founded in 2013, in a bedroom by our owner Ben at the age of 19. Originally an idea to fund his ambition of a career in Golf, it rapidly became too consuming and required a dedicated warehouse and staff.

The business made a name for itself on eBay supplying a wide variety of components (and of course switches!) to hobbyists and soon became the largest seller on the platform selling components.

Three years later, the business expanded into the neighboring warehouse and was receiving over 300 orders daily. It also became a family business with Ben's triplet brother (Alex) and sister (Hannah) joining the company.

2017 saw a move to a new warehouse and a rapidly expanding portfolio of 5,000 components. It also saw the launch of a new website towards the end of the year (that wasn't built by Ben) and a printed catalogue.

The next few years were a period of rapid growth with the addition of many new employees and more than doubling the product portfolio. It also involved expanding into many new markets and in 2020 receiving the 1,000,000th order.

During 2021, the business moved to a 7,000 sqft warehouse and was receiving around 25,000 orders each month. The product portfolio had also grown to 15,000 parts, helped by the addition of well-known manufacturers including Wago, Hammond, and IDEC.

Towards the end of 2022, Ben's achievements were recognized; being awarded the region's 'Young Entrepreneur Award' and finishing the year with the company’s most successful year to date.

As we continue to grow, our product ranges, turnover, and team have all expanded significantly. We are excited to announce that we are now becoming Arduino distributors, further enhancing our offerings and commitment to supporting the maker community.
