I am an electronics engineer, and have been designing products with microprocessors 30 years back. So I am not updated, but know the basics of real time programming and interrupts etc. I do also see a lot of abbreviations used in this forum, that I do not know yet.

I am reading about using Arduino and possible use to control the speed of some sewing machines. I have not yet got an Arduino, but I try to learn how it works and figure out some beginner questions regarding the software and hardware of the Arduino.
