I've been writing software since 1971, in many languages on many types of system. And I was building electronics projects even before that. Spent my professional life building satellites -- big ones ! the smallest was 720kg and the biggest 8.5 tonnes. I retired from ESA in 2015 and now develop systems for my astronomical observatory -- it's full of Arduinos and Raspberry Pi's, as well as 4 regular computers.
