Id like to hook up the steering wheel buttons in my car (no CANbus) to control an aftermarket Kenwood radio. The radio is equipped with ONE light/blue wire that should be connected to a remote control interface (separate blackbox).
Id like to have the arduino as such an interface, but I can't find anywhere the description of the 1wire communication protocol for the radio, I dont even know whether thats digital or analog.
There exists PAC swi jack device that shows that this is possible and such a protocol exists.
I have a radio KMM-202 recently equipped with the similar one wire steering remote control interface, I had figured out the protocol is exactly same with IR remote control come with the radio. It is using NEC IR remote control protocol except the signal is inverted and without the 38KHz modulation.
You can hook up an oscilloscope to the pin and pressing the remote control come with the radio to see the pattern. If you want to hook up the pin with your arduino please make sure you don't drive it high, as it shared the pin with the IR receiver.
