In the IDE, click on File then Examples, then Wire, you will see I2C_scanner.
Compile and upload.
You don't need to turn backlight on, it shows dimly without it.

Well the code you downloaded from the internet seems to be intended for real hardware.
thats true thats true.. alright I think this is the best option for now, I won't be going to school soon because of break so I'll scrap this idea for now. I'll try out tinkercad-friendly codes in the meanwhile. Thank you for all the help! Take care!
