Anyone know of an absolute positioning gaming mouse?

Before I start getting busy with an Arduino diy project, does anyone know of a gaming mouse with absolute positioning? I.e. One that uses analog controls like potentiometers for the X and Y axis instead of relative positioning optical devices. And where the position of the pot matches the cursor position - i.e. The cursor is in the center of the screen when the pot is centered etc.

I know they make graphics tablets with absolute positioning but I can't find an absolute gaming mouse.

I don't like to use a regular mouse for aiming in FPS games. I want to aim with greater precision.

There used to be "sensitivity" settings for mice, in the driver software. Are they still there?

Some older mice still use the optical encoder method which is akin to analog but without the issues you would face using potentiometer based approach.

There are also the trackball methods. (upside down ball mouse)

Most gaming mice have a "sensitivity" button located just below the scroll wheel.

The only "absolute" position devices that I am familiar with are pen tablets, like the Wacom, and the older trackball devices. All mouse devices are relative. If you can pick up the pointing device (mouse or pen) and move it without moving the cursor, then it's relative.
