Arduino 101 and Applications

I have been playing around with the Arduino 101 this last couple days and have gotten the 101 to connect to the nRF toolbox and the nRF Connect. I got the nRF toolbox to connect to a the heart Rate Monitor thanks to the example. What I want to know is if I want to connect multiple sensors to the Arduino 101 and read that sensor data, do you need a custom app for that or are there apps out there that will read bluetooth data and make it understandable?

For example, I want to read multiple temperatures sensors and see that temperature on my phone.

I can suggest my Android pfodApp (www.pfod.com.au)
It is a general purpose app whose display format is completely controlled by the code in your Arduino.

It displays menus/submenus, plots, logs data, and general interactive UIs

There is a free pfodDesigner app the lets you design menus/submenus, charts and log data for i/o on the Arduno101

see http://www.forward.com.au/pfod/pfodDesigner/index.html
and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) made simple with pfodApp™ Custom BLE controls with no Android coding

pfodApp V3 adds drawing primitives with definable touch regions for custom UIs
see Custom Arduino Controls for Android<br>No Android Programming Required for the basics
and see Arduino101 Starter, controlled by Android/<A HREF="../../index.html">pfodApp</A> Control Arduino101 from your Android mobile, no coding required.<br>Then build your own controls. No Android coding required. for an extensive example

Here is a screen shot of the extensive example.

Remember this display and the handling of the user input is NOT hard coded into pfodApp but is completely controlled by the sketch you load into your Arduino

There are others too such as Thingspeak and EasyIOT etc etc etc.
Apps for phones come in many guises and sometimes you end up trying a few until you find one that you can see will work for your apllication.

You have to assess what it is EXACTLY you need and what and how you want to do things.

ok! Thank you for your answers. And the links (it is too bad I have an iphone).

Also, check out Blynk. www.Blynk.cc

It's a widget-based interface builder with gauges, sliders, etc.

Blynk works on both IOS and Android. I haven't tried it with Curie Core V2.02 yet, but it works great with 1.0.7

Hi Lucas
Does blynk still become a pay to play or is it totally free ?
I know it used to become a pay to play.

Blynk is free to tinker and build smaller apps for personal use. I've built a fair amount with it and haven't hit the paywall. As you build bigger apps you start to pay to add more and more widgets.

Just noting that Blynk doesn't work with the 2.0.2 there are issues with the Intel Core (as stated by Intel Core and in the Blink forums). They all suggest staying with the 1.0.7
