Arduino + Applescript? PD? Python?

I have a project in which I need to launch applescripts based on user input off an arduino. Is there a "best practice" for this sort of communication?

Is pduino the answer? Is PD a good bridge between Arduino and a computer? Maybe Python makes more sense? Looks like there is a way to launch python scripts from arduino.

I hope I'm posting in the right place? New to this amazing forum.

Thanks!

The arduino communicates with the PC via serial, so any script language that can read and write over a serial port will do. E.g http://lmgtfy.com/?q=applescript+serial+communication

I've used SerialPort X with much success, it lets you trigger applescript from the arduino's serial output. http://mysite.verizon.net/vzenuoqe/MacSoft.html
