Hello people, bad news. I tested this on ATmega168P, and was not successful. Switched to "no bootloader" and all, sadly no dice.
Also could not try same settings for ATmega168P compared to ones used for the ATmega32U4), as I use different SW package for it (Mini Core).
One more thing: fot ATmega32U4, I have to be connected to both USB, e.g. the programmer USB and ATmega32U4 serial port.
Could you turn on "verbose output for upload" in the preferences, and attach the output from one of your "failed to erase" upload attempts?
All of the output, this time?
I can try again next time I get the right devices, but I believe I already have the max amount of verbose output for 2.x.x IDE.
