Arduino IDE problem on Mac OS X

Hi folks,

on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) the IDE 18 lists all the serial ports and generally the one already checked is not connected. Whenever I select an other one, the 'wrong' serial port remains checked. So now I have two serial ports selected... I reckon the IDE wants to use the 'wrong' one. For instance, just got a Pro Mini 3V and even if I check/tick the FTDI cable's port, an other port (USB or Bluetooth) is selected as well... Any ideas?

Tried Grumpy Mike's suggestion: http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1259090678

Created a new location and I could choose the right serial. Then 'avrdude is not responding' again... Any suggestions?

Installed the latest driver, now I get 'sync error'. WTF???
