hi!
i accidently set 12v on arduino uno wifi 5v output pin. i wanted to set it on the vin pin
now when powering via usb the arduino ide recognizes it but can't upload sketches
also the atmega gets super hot quickly
what are your opinions ?
should i just buy a new one ?
This is not a community matter it is a technical one. Therefore I have moved your post here where it belongs.
Yes I would.
Thank You very much for your relpy
I am going to buy a new one but shipping to my country takes a month on average so in the main time i want to explore the possibility of fixing it
It is likely that you fried the processor and the USB to serial chip, along with some capacitors. How much time will you save trying to replace those components?
You look fancy there with bullet points .
well now i am on vacation and I am i have plenty of time
but if i fried the processor then there is no Point in that
thank you very much
Yes you will need a new board.
FWIW I purchased some Testor's Red paint. On my boards I mark the "Vin" pin Red (using a tooth pick) where it is easy to see. Red sharpe doesn't show up enough for me.
I originally started doing this for sensor breakout boards since they all have power inputs at different locations.
that's a good idea i am just starting this hubby , the issue is we don't have places to buy this stuff in my country so it's unfortunate that i have to wait another month but lesson well learned i guess
If it takes a month to get the boards, I would guess the chips would take longer. I will also take a SWAG and say you do not have the toolkit to change those parts. I almost agree with @LarryD but they are inexpensive enough get about a half a dozen of them.
I went even further - I bought colored header pins and color code the board pins.
