Hi - With Arduino's support, I have set up an Arduino User Group in Canberra. Anyone local interested in joining?
Please tell us more about yourself and background and what you hope to accomplish. Thanks.
Are you in Canberra? My name is Steven, i am new to Arduino, and hope to accomplish a community of Arduino users in Canberra. Please tell me more about yourself, your background, and what you hope to accomplish.
Hi Steven,
Welcome to the wide world of Arduino. I have been developing quite a few projects, devices, controllers, etc using Arduino and it’s derivatives for about 7 or 8 years. I’m in a position to help deserving people with their projects. By “deserving” I mean that people worthy of my time must demonstrate that they themselves have put in the effort to “try” and simply have gotten stumped. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to spoon feed anyone. I think this is the basic philosophy of most people on the forums who help new, eager minds in the world of Arduino.
I have well over 1,000 sketches that I have written that do all sorts of things. I also have the electronics background and have built the hardware that these sketches (code) control. It’s exciting what can be controlled and done with these powerful, albeit small, modules like Arduino.
Let me know how your user group develops. I would recommend not to focus on Canberra “local” participation. The expanse of knowledge is far to large and worldwide in nature to restrict your efforts to such a small segment of the population and knowledge base. I’ve seen this idea of local user groups fail here locally and it’s inevitable with the “blind leading the blind” so to speak Steven.
Let me know if I can help you with any project. Posting to the forum, if done correctly, will get you lots of great assistance. Just consider the Arduino forum one big user group. The expertise within it is vast.
Best of luck,
Bill – Jupiter, FL USA
Thanks Bill for your thoughtful response.
I am setting up a local group as I responded to Arduino's call for local User Groups.
As part of my commitment in that initiative, hopefully I can get a group of us together to meet under one roof and nut out problems, inspire each other, and share on the forum.
