atmega1284P

Hi
Im trying to load a bootloader to an atmega1284p by using this link GitHub - JChristensen/mighty-1284p at v1.6.3

im getting an error and am requesting help to over come this

avrdude: Expected signature for ATmega1284P is 1E 97 05
Double check chip, or use -F to override this check.
Wrong microcontroller found. Did you select the right board from the Tools > Board menu?

Please do this:

  • File > Preferences > Show verbose output during: > upload (check) > OK
  • Tools > Burn Bootloader
  • After the process fails you'll see a button on the right side of the orange bar "Copy error messages". Click that button.
  • Paste the errors in a reply here using code tags.

FYI, there is a much better hardware package for ATmega1284P now:

JChristensen/mighty-1284p was good in its time but is now dead.

avrdude done.  Thank you.

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.

I'm pretty sure that the message is telling you that it's expecting to find an ATmega328P but instead it's finding an ATmega1284.

What board and MPU do you have?

You need to select the ATmega1284P board from the Tools > Board menu.
