ATMEGA328P -PU programmer

Hi,

I am putting ATMEGA328P on my board ( PCB, custom built). I was wondering that is there any programmer that I can use to program the ATMEGA328P without putting any USB chip on my board but can use JTAG connector.

I saw the following programming setup on the Digikey. Can I use this programmer to program the ATMEGA328P using JTAG? I think that this programmer to work, I need to put the JTAG connector on my board but I can not find TDI, TDO, TCLK and TMS on ATMEGA328P.

Why not use an ICSP to program the controller with a UNO board as the programmer. Process is described here.

Atmega328P does not support JTAG. You need to move up to a 1284P, 2561, or 2560 for that.

Put a 6-pin ICSP header, or make the pins (Reset-Gnd-SCK-MISO-MOSI-Power) available to a programming adapter cable, and use another Arduino to install a bootloader: http://www.gammon.com.au/breadboard then you can download serially with a USB/Serial adapter such FTDI Basic, and use the serial port for debugging via Serial.print(). Add an FTDI header, or make the pins (Rx, Tx, DTR, GND, Power) available to connect an adapter cable.

Hi,

Can I use MEGA 2560 to program the ATMEGA328P?

Just like http://www.gammon.com.au/breadboard is suggesting about programming ATMEGA328P.

Yes.
