Audio recording with Wemos D1

Is there a way to record audio with Arduino board?
I was thinking: GPS module, microphone, Wemos D1.
I want audio recording when GPS location is changing (Car hijacking system)
Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Search, Google, on Arduino +Audio.

More to the point, get an audio recorder.

"XY Problem" here. :astonished:

In which way is this answer helpfull? Can an audio recorder start recording on gps movement? This community should be here for people who have a challenge where an Arduino could be involved, an answer such as yours does not contribute to my challenge in any way.

So, my question still stands....

Difficult to answer your question because you haven't given any of the important detail. What quality audio do yo need? How long do you want to record it for? On a Wemos D1 you've only got a 10 bit ADC with a slow sampling rate and not a huge amount of memory to store the results in.

If you want more than about 10 seconds of very low quality audio then a purpose-built audio recorder that is triggered from a D1 is probably the most practical solution.

WeMOS reads GPS, notices a change in location (mind: set a minimum change in location for it to be "movement" which is greater than the normal variance in readings), sends signal to audio recorder to start recording.

Start recording.... what? You didn't answer any of the questions. What quality, how long, and what kind of audio.

Of course I can't answer those questions, that's for the OP to answer.

Thanks for these answers. The quality ain't that important, just want to hear what has been said, so no high quality at all. The time recording should be longer than 20 seconds. Maybe another board with more options could be more useful. If you have a suggestion for a board please share, maybe i can order it on an ebayish site :wink:

Thanks in advance guys/girls

Another issue: what are you planning to do with the recording?

@Paul__B
Thanks Paul, that's what i was looking for.

@wvmarle
Recording should be done on a (micro)SD card and maybe even streaming to my (to build) cloud solution but therefor a SIM card must be included, but of that i'm not sure yet (because of the subscription of the card).

Thanks everyone.
