AutoComplete Arduino 1.6.9

In the earlier versions there seemed to be a way to autocomplete code write by pressing [ctrl] + [Space] this fuctionality seems to not be availible anymore of Arduino 1.6.9. This is something that is needed and would like to get some advise on how I can get the autocomplete fuctionality back.

is there an addon/patch that can be downloaded or could I use an older version IDE say 1.5.1

Someone did a bunch of work to add auto completion to the IDE a year ago but it was never merged: Autocomplete by ricardojlrufino · Pull Request #3484 · arduino/Arduino · GitHub. You'd have to build that fork of the IDE following these instructions: Building Arduino · arduino/Arduino Wiki · GitHub.

My limited experience with auto complete has been that it's more trouble than it's worth, like the stupid autocorrect on phones. I'm a fast typer and good at copy and paste so have no need for autocomplete. I think it would be a good addition if it can be turned off but the trend with this sort of thing seems to be that the developer assumes that since they think it's cool everyone else will too so they just force it on you.

Thanks pert will try it out

[SOLVED] go to the website watch the video and install Arduino-Eclopse IDE instead
