Battery charging

Hey guys, until now i have used only liion battery for my projects, but i am having a few lead acid battery which i want to use.

I have a liion battery charger(for a standard 3.7v cell) which works well, can i use it to charge the lead acid batttery (4V 0.5AH/1AH sealed lead acid rechargable battery) ?

I also have a 12v 1.3Ah lead acid battery, The way i should charge it is connect it to a 12v source and check occasionally whether the battery has reached 12v ? Right ?

Also another doubt, all my batteries now have line 0.02/0.01v (even the 12v battery)when measured with a multimeter, is it normal or is it dead ?

Thanks in advance

None of those ideas will work. Lithium-based and lead acid batteries are completely destroyed by discharging to zero volts, or improper charging.

Battery University is an authoritative source of information on rechargeable batteries of all common types, and covers applicable charge protocols as well.

4V 0.5AH/1AH sealed lead acid rechargeable battery?

Lead acid battery cells are 2V2 each, a '4V' lead acid battery is actually 4V4 and a '12V' lead acid battery is 13V2'. Simplest way to charge a lead acid battery is with a charger that is accurately adjusted to 2V2 per cell, so 4V4 for a 2 cell battery and 13V2 for a 6 cell battery. You can go a tiny bit above that, maybe 2V3 per cell for faster charging. You can leave a charger set to 2V2 per cell connected indefinitely. Lead acid batteries quickly degrade if left discharged. The batteries you say are showing close to 0V are useless, where I live lead acid batteries fetch a good price at scrap metal dealers.

Thanks for your replies,
these battries were just laying around and just thought about using them, though they are useless

Good chance if they have been laying around that they will be knackered anyhow.

Hi,
If your battery has a brand name you should be able to find the makers site and they should give you specs on how to charge your battery.
Is it a wet cell or SLA?

Can you post a picture of your batteries please?

Thanks.. Tom...
