Do you have a spec sheet? A fast quest via google didn't turn up anything. The row of pins down one side "could" be the normal 16 pins found on a standard LCD parallel display.
Have you tried connecting it up per the parallel wiring sample on the LCD library?
Unfortunately I have nothing. I DID read about the standard 16 pins found on the Hitachi standard, so I'm thinking it is that. I have done nothing to the unit as of yet.
The problem is that I'm not sure what some of the pins mean. Wiper, for instance?
Well Rich, don't tell anyone, but I didn't know what most of the pins meant myself a couple weeks ago (still don't fully understand most of them:) - but I connected my LCD up with pin #1 to where the sample showed, right on thru pin #16 and tried that.
Most of these things seem to be pretty bullet proof... well, as long as the blue smoke doesn't get out anyway :
Since you don't have any info, I'll bet you don't have much money in it... so not a lot gambled... You know what they say - no guts, no glory!
I wish I could help more, but without photos and datasheet - it's really hard to tell much.
Your display operates just like any other character mode LCD. The only difference is in the orientation of the 16 pins. The 16 pins on the left side of your display correspond, one for one, to the 16 pins on the top of the more common displays.
I did The Google, and I did The Clusty as well. Still couldn't find the datasheet, regardless of the site. Some of these Asian sites are ... leaving things out?
Thanks Don for the clarification on the term "wiper".
Not really. Check your browser for that link. Also, pdfsea never showed any manual. I DID do this before posting here, like I said. But, just to amuse you, I went into pdfsea and searched for the very same term. This is what I found:

So, neither the manufacturer nor pdfsea have any sort of manual.
