Bes place to buy arduino

Well, I decided to give a try to arduino, and I'm looking for the best place to buy one, cheap and with a shipping fee cheap too, because I'm from México.

I'll appreciate ur responses.

dunno about free shipping across the border but modern device sells some cheap systems, but most of the cheap ones are not shield compatible

I have one, don't care about shields and it works great

Search on ebay.com , it's the cheapest place for arduinos, most have free shipping.

Search for Freeduino or Roboduino. These are the Arduino clones. They are EXACTLY the same as the real thing (sometimes better) for about 1/3 - 1/2 less.

I have various freeduino and other Arduino clones that I am happy with but I would not say they are exactly the same thing as the official arduino boards, nor are the always cheaper.

The roboduino looks to be nice board with extra features but it appears to be over 50% higher in cost than the standard arduino board.

You're looking in the wrong place, trust me. They are at least 50% less.

I was looking at this $50 board: http://www.curiousinventor.com/kits/roboduino

I guess this must be the one you are referring to:

There are a number of suppliers.

Depends on your skill level. After just building my own I can say it's not so bad - so why not build one? Look up RBBB arduino or research the parts you need and just build one. Buy a chip with the bootloader though! You can get the parts for about £7 here. (328). It won't be as neat but it'll do the job.

It also depends on how you'll use it. Personally I anticipated a lot of tinkering and didn't want to do a lot of soldering so I opted for a USB Duemanov-whatever; I bought one from China on eBay for about 20 USD and another from SoarkFun for about 30 USD (the build quality of the Chinese one from eBay was better!)

But if you know exactly what you're going to do then you can get a SUPER cheap model like the Really Barebones Arduino from Modern Devices.

But here's the trick: if you don't have an FTDI cable then the cost of a small Arduino like the barebones arduino + FTDI cable comes out to be about the same as just buying a USB Duemenova!

So I recommend buying an Arduino off eBay, especially from a Chinese dealer; they usually have free shipping and cheaper prices than stores
