Bluetooth canbus sniffer and packet transmitter

I have grown some curiosity about the automotive world after seeing some people control their car using the canbus. My goal to use an arduino with a canbus shield from seeedstudio and a bluetooth shield to read can packets on my android device and even send packets. Would this be possible with an arduino uno? I know people have been able to to connect their raspberry pi to their car and send and receive can packets but can the adruino handle it? Is there anything else I would need to achieve this task?

Looks promising..

You can already buy wired and wireless canbus transceivers - do you really need to make your own? A lot of the value comes from the software that understands the protocols and data, rather than the I/O hardware. If you go the DIY route, would you be planning to implement all that yourself too?
